The theoretical reflection covers the characteristics of family upbringing, presents the problem of the new fatherhood and shows the father as one of the most important role models in child upbringing. On the basis of scientific studies, the most important features of a family’s educational environment were indicated, as well as the specificity of the role of the father in raising a child. Reflection on the addressed issues shows that the presence of the father turns out to be indispensable in the process of shaping a young person, in the process of a child’s growth into the world of values and the world of social life. In view of that, the article analyzes the possibilities resulting from the currently applicable regulations to help remedy this. An analysis was also made of catechists’ capabilities to increase the availability of religion lessons to students who cannot attend school for health reasons. Parents and others involved in the upbringing process must make continual choices regarding a wide range of parenting models. One of the educational suggestions may be the teaching about the role of the family contained in the Bible.
