This article provides philosophical and personalistic explanations of some principles of donation, fundamental for human understanding of procreative life. The author argues that the human character of life and of its transmission is founded on personal relationship, on mutual love and self-dedication. From this point of view, the ethical dimension of human procreation should always include the attitude of gift, on being “for” (pro-creative) in the act of transmission of life in relation with God’s creative act. That excludes biotechnological substitution of the procreative human act by the reproductive procedures of in-vitro fertilization, cloning and genetic engineering. This article is aimed at presenting the intellectual environment in which Pope Wojtyła reached an outstanding stature and the factors that conditioned his “prosopopoiesis”, expounding as exhaustively as possible the philosophical schools, currents and teachers of the time in Poland. It also aims at describing his personalism, a theoretical and practical system considered by him as a remedy to the crises of that epoch (fascism, communism, atheistic humanism, abortion, euthanasia...) and an instrument to read God’s language in present history (Vatican II: “the personalistic Council”). In the system developed by Wojtyła on the basis of Thomistic realism and of phenomenology, the person is the key to know reality and to value human actions. This is presented in the article at three levels: theological, anthropological and axiological. Upon entering the Polish Armed Forces, military chaplains become officers of the Polish Army. Their service stems from their being primarily priests – ministers of the sacraments and sowers of the word of God. They minister to military parishes and chaplaincy centres scattered throughout the whole territory of the Republic of Poland and abroad.
