From this framework and with an analytical-synthetic methodology, the article delves into the profile of the catechist as presented in the Directory for Catechesis (2020). The work highlights the vocation’s theological-ecclesial dimension and a catechist’s identity, including their functions in carrying out the catechesis that, at present, the new evangelizing stage of the Church demands. In this way, the study manifests the value and scope of the institution of the catechist ministry.Publikacja Listu Apostolskiego Antiquum ministerium, w którym papież Franciszek powołał świecki urząd katechety, stała się również okazją do zbadania, jak osoba katechety jest traktowana w post Soborowym Dyrektorium o Katechizacji.
