Hence, it faces the constant task of reading and recognizing “the signs of time” and searching for adequate responses to the world’s challenges. The pastoral directions for the Church in Poland contained in John Paul II's speeches to the Polish bishops who came to Rome with the “ad limina” visit provide assistance in this respect.
