The identity of ancillary priesthood calls for the trinitary dimension with a particular stress laid on the Christocentric dimension and the ecclesial aspect. The sacrament of the priesthood makes the baptised like Christ, anoints him in the Holy Spirit, and entitles him to make the salvific presence of the High Priest real. Owing to a particular unity with Christ, the priest becomes a servant of His Church: the mystery, communion, and mission. He is therefore the servant of the Churchmystery by performing the sacramental signs of Christ’s presence, he is the servant of the Church-communion and makes the unity of presbyterium.
