Christian translators generally follow the LXX reading, choosing the messianic interpretation of the passage. The question arises, what was the Hebrew original: did the original word end with a waw or a yod? The Masorah itself gives some help in answering this question, and especially helpful is the fragment of Ps 22 in the Nachal Chever text.
