The authoress presents the specificity and importance of volunteers’ work. She undertakes an attempt of a search for some kind of alternative, innovative solutions (programmes) in the field of voluntary work for the benefit of the disabled and their families. She makes subject to analysis three specific types of voluntary work. First among them is the youth voluntary work, next – employees’ voluntary work and the following – prisoners’ voluntary work. The essence of these considerations is also an attempt of taking a look at effects of these kinds of activities from the point of view of both: taker and a giver of the social support.plAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Polandhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/pl/wolontariatniepełnosprawnośćrodzinaniepełnosprawnirodziny osób niepełnosprawnychwsparcie społecznewsparcievoluntary workdisabilityfamilydisabledfamilies of disabled peoplesocial supportsupportWolontariat formą wsparcia społecznego osoby niepełnosprawnej i jej rodzinyVoluntary Work as a Form of Support of a Disabled Person and His/Her FamilyArticle
