The methods of pastoral theology are proper to practical theological disciplines. What matters in the practical sciences is the fact that the subject-matter of their research are fist of all the principles of acting. In arriving at those principles one has to adhere many a time to the methods of research proper to systematic and speculative theology. Recent research points out that the object of interest of pastoral theology comprises three elements of content. These elements can be ordered as three stages of research procedure: ecclesial, sociological and praxeological.
