Tens of thousands of Poles took part in this conflict. Their engagement in this war is still little known. Even less known is the involvement of Polish Catholic priests in this war. The author has analyzed about 50 Polish-language magazines published in Polish territories under the Russian partition. The work contains memoirs from the war front, included in letters written by Polish Catholic priests, their opinions and accounts. These men played a great role at the war front. They provided spiritual support and raised the morale of Polish soldiers. They helped to treat the wounded and performed daily field-duties.
