The paper attempts to demonstrate and assess the peregrination, which was held from 21 May 1978 to 24 June 1979 and had a significant impact on the local church forty years ago, specifically the city of Bydgoszcz and the present-day shape of the Diocese of Bydgoszcz. The importance of studying this historical event is further stressed by the fact that the Diocese of Bydgoszcz will bear witness to another peregrination from 01 September 2018 to 06 April 2019.
