Most of the cited theories originate from the ABCX Model invented by Reuben Hill in 1949. One of the article’s conclusions is that there is no universal theory which fully explains the process of parents’ adaptation to having a child with a disability. Moreover, the author recommends that future research focus on variables which mediate and moderate the association between a child’s disability and his or her parents’ adjustment and adaptation to crisis.polCC-BY-ND - Uznanie autorstwa - Bez utworów zależnychrodzicedzieciniepełnosprawnośćstreskryzysadaptacjaprzystosowaniedzieci niepełnosprawnerodzice dzieci niepełnosprawnychsocjologiapsychologiabadaniaparentschildrendisabilitystresscrisisadaptationadjustmentchildren with disabilitiesparents of children with disabilitiessociologypsychologyresearchZ historii badań nad rodzicami dzieci z niepełnosprawnościąA Brief History of Research on Parents of Children with DisabilitiesArticle
