It is religions that are new and important allies in this fight. Religions contribute to shaping ecological attitudes in multiple ways. Statistical research shows that a large proportion of the human population is religious, and finds religion an important part of its everyday life. Thus, the involvement of religious leaders in fostering concern for the environment could be a vital factor bringing about changes in people’s attitudes toward the environment.
