However, he emphasised that he did not want everyone to become Roman Catholics, but to be united with the Bishop of Rome, preserving their own rites. In order to realise his intentions, he established relationships with many Orthodox Church hierarchs. His actions did not bring the intended results, though. One of the major reasons for that was the fact that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was headed by Russians, who had no cause to act in favour of the Ukrainian nation’s interests.plCC-BY-SA - Uznanie autorstwa - Na tych samych warunkachzjednoczenie CerkwiUkraińska Autokefaliczna Cerkiewmetropolita Andrzej SzeptyckiAndrzej Szeptyckiarcybiskupimetropolicizjednoczenie prawosławnego WschoduprawosławieCerkiew greckokatolickaunification of the Eastern Orthodox ChurchUkrainian Autocephalous Orthodox ChurchMetropolitan Archbishop Andrey Sheptytskyarchbishopsmetropolitan bishopsunification of the Orthodox EastEastern OrthodoxyGreek Catholic ChurchDziałalność metropolity Szeptyckiego na rzecz zjednoczenia CerkwiThe Metropolitan Archbishop Andrey Sheptytsky’s Actions Aiming to Unite the ChurchArticle
