An analysis of the contemporary catechetical and pastoral reflection, as well as of the teaching of the Magisterium of the Church, allows us to notice the great concern for the shape, the character and the tasks of parish communities in the Catholic Church. Among its numerous functions and tasks, a significant amount of thought is given to the catechetical service, which the parish performs and for which it is responsible. Thus takes place the actualization of the image of the Church of the first centuries, where the catechetical teaching – the Christian mystagogy – used to be conducted within the community of the faithful.
