Misterium jest przy-kładem gatunku dramatycznego, mającego na celu przedstawienie wydarzeń opisanych w Piśmie Świętym. Autorka podjęła próbę odpowiedzi na pytania: Co wyjątkowego, ponadczasowego przekazał w Historii... Mikołaj z Wilkowiecka, że tekst stał się atrakcyjny dla współczesnych reżyserów polskich i skłonił ich do podjęcia inscenizacji dramatu? Czy dwudziestowieczne wystawienia misterium były powrotem do źródeł teatru i teatralnej katechezy? Jaka była reakcja inscenizatorów na religijną wymowę dramatu promującego chrześcijańską wizję świata? Aby odpowiedzieć na te pytania autorka poddała analizie najgłośniejsze, dwudziestowieczne wystawienia misterium Mikołaja z Wilkowiecka: Leona Schillera (1923), Kazimierza Dejmka (1961, 1962), Piotra Cieplaka (1993, 1994) i Przemysława Basińskiego (1994).The topic of the article is a 16th century mystery play called The history of the glorius Resurrection of the Lord by Nicholas of Wilkowieck as an inspiration for directors in the Polish theatre of the 20th century. The mystery play is an example of drama with a purpose to introduce events described in the Bible that are based first and foremost on the clash between great ideas and on the battle between good and evil. The author has attempted to answer questions: What was so unique and timeless in The history.... that made its text attractive for contemporary Polish directors and encouraged them to stage the drama? Were the 20th century stagings of the mystery play a return to the origin of the theatre and theatrical religious instruction? What was the reaction of the producers to the religious meaning of the drama promoting a Christian vision of the world?
