The first part presents the idea of the human dignity as an ontological value which is supreme and belongs only to the human being. Only a man possesses this ability to contemplate his own existence. The other part of this article describes problems connected with educating students to be aware of their responsibility to form their own personal dignity. Human dignity does not depends on biological, psychological or social characteristics. It represents a value which should be discovered ed promoted in education.
