They were read during the Eucharist on the frst Sunday of Lent. This article is an analysis of chosen liturgical strands contained in the letters mentioned above. The frst archbishop of Częstochowa pointed to the distinctive features at the Lent; its main topics and established enter to the liturgy of the word in Ash Wednesday or on Sunday when the letter was read out. There were also references to the Sacraments of Christian initiation with which the time of 40 days before Easter is connected because in the frst years of Christianity catechumens prepared directly before Baptism, Confrmation and the Eucharist, just during the Lent. In these letters there is also possible to fnd encouragement to enter to the sacraments of healing.
