Prof. Władysław Piwowarski’s research activity falls on the period of significant changes in the Church and in pastoral theology. The crucial event was the Vatican Council II. Lectures on pastoral theology had a great effect on the development of Rev. W. Piwowarski’s pastoral sensibility. This is why in the 60’s of the 20th century he joined the discussion on the conception of pastoral theology, proclaiming himself in favour of the ecclesiological conception of the discipline. Rev. Professor W. Piwowarski was convinced that Polish Catholicism is not strong enough because social life is underdeveloped. This is why he stressed the necessity of making people more sensible to the social dimension of pastorate. Involvement in what is social should reveal what is Divine. Rev. Professor Piwowarski’ preoccupation was searching for a model of the Church, pastorate and priest that would be adequate to the challenges of the time.plAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Polandhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/pl/kapłaniduchowieństwoprofesorowieWładysław Piwowarskiteologiateologia pastoralnateologia praktycznaduszpasterstwoparafierozwójrozwój teologii pastoralnejclergypriesthoodprofessorstheologypastoral theologypractical theologyministryparishesdevelopmentdevelopment of pastoral theologyWkład ks. prof.
