The allegorical interpretation and the historical – critical exegesis was followed by the stage of post-critical research, which has resulted in the restructuring of our perception of this literary genre. The article exposes at first the contemporary look at the parables in the Old Testament and in the Hellenistic literature. Several definitions of a parable are given and the characteristics of this literary genre are indicated. The classification of parables made by Jülicher is criticised and the suggestions for other typologies are indicated. The characteristic features of the parables in the synoptic gospels are briefly presented. The sense of Ml 4, 11-12 is discussed in more details. The article concludes with indications for the interpretation of the parable.polCC-BY-ND - Uznanie autorstwa - Bez utworów zależnychBibliaPismo ŚwięteNowy Testamentprzypowieściteologiateologia Nowego Testamentuhermeneutykahermeneutyka biblijnahermeneutyka przypowieściAdolf JülicherbiblistykaBibleNew Testamentparablestheologytheology of the New Testamenthermeneuticsbiblical hermeneuticshermeneutics of parablesbiblical studiesWspółczesna interpretacja przypowieści Jezusa ChrystusaContemporary interpretation of the parables of Jesus ChristArticle
