Meanwhile, as many Polish thinkers examining the social dimension of human existence argue, a properly understood concept of nation helps in better understanding of the social dimension of the person and explains many phenomena of community life. This article is an attempt to portray, in a synthetic way, understanding of the category of “nation” which can be found in the work of the most outstanding representatives of Polish personalism.Współczesna, zachodnioeuropejska myśl społeczna stroni od prób opisania przestrzeni spo­łecznej za pomocą kategorii „narodu”. Tymczasem, jak przekonują liczni polscy myśliciele podejmujący zagadnienie społecznego wymiaru istnienia człowieka, właściwie rozumiane pojęcie narodu pozwala wyjaśnić i uporządkować wiele fenomenów życia wspólnotowego.
