The article is devided into three parts in which such problems are discussed: genesis and structure, function of „self-concept” in the development of personality, features of „self-concept” in relation to affirmative development. The following factors are distinguished in genesis of „self-concept”: perception of the stimulates coming from one’s own body, influence coming from significant persons, identifications, comparison with others, self-reflection. There are such elements distinguished by psychology in the structure of „self-concept”; real-self-concept (what I am), ideal-self-concept (what I would like to be). From affirmative development point of view the „self-concept” should possess the following features; the „self-concept” should be: permanent, coherent, adequate that is to say realistic.plAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Polandhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/pl/cechy obrazu siebierozwójrozwój pozytywnyobraz siebiestabilność obrazu siebiemechanizmy obronneproces samoaktualizacjistruktura obrazu siebiegeneza obrazu siebiepsychologiapsychologia humanistycznapsychologia selfufeatures of self-imagedevelopmentpositive developmentself-imagestability of self-imagedefence mechanismsself-updating processstructure of self-imagegenesis of self-imagepsychologyhumanistic psychologypsychology of selfrozwój osobowościdevelopment of personalityosobowośćpersonalityObraz siebie w procesie rozwoju osobowościArticle
