Protection of the natural environment and the ecological crisis should be considered one of the most characteristic phenomena of the beginning of the 21st century. The scale of both this phenomenon and its consequences, that finally affect man, make one perceive the ecological issue as one of the greatest challenges facing humanity as well as the Church. The contemporary Church’s preaching treats the ecological issue as a sign of the time and perceives it first of all in moral terms. In the light of this the question seems justified, what sensitivity to the discussed problems is displayed by the teaching of II Polish Plenary Synod. The teaching may be reduced to showing two opposite attitudes: a pro-ecological one that is recommended to the faithful in Poland; and an anti-ecological, that is consumption attitude, that is negatively appraised by the Synod.plAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Polandhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/pl/ekologiakryzys ekologicznyochrona środowiska naturalnegopostawa konsumpcyjnasynod plenarnysynodyII Polski Synod Plenarnydokumenty synodalneśrodowisko naturalneecologyecological crisisprotection of the natural environmentconsumption attitudeplenary synodsynodsnatural habitatII Polish Plenary SynodKwestia ekologiczna w dokumentach II Polskiego Synodu Plenarnego (1991-1999)The Ecological Issue in the Documents of the II Polish Plenary Synod (1991-1999)Article
