Abstrakt

Despite all the efforts done by various organizations, politicians and people responsible for the well-being of nations, the Contemporary situation in the world is marked by armed conflicts, by violence and terrorism. This inclines one to reflect on the issue of peace. Family cannot be excluded from the effort directed at the process of building it. The article tackles the problem of education in the family, the family that is called by John Paul II the first school of peace. The starting point of the article is analysis of the term “peace” on the basis of the teaching by the Contemporary Church. Next, the role of the parents in educating for peace is shown, as well as the possibilities of involving the very children in the process. Finally, the formation for peace in the institutions supporting the family, mainly in the school and the Church, is presented.
