Abstrakt
The aim of the work is to answer the question: In what personality traits and family functioning dimensions adult children of alcoholics differ from their coevals coming from correctly functioning families? 30 subjects at the age of 20-26 coming from families with alcoholic disease and 30 subjects from non-pathological families were studied. In the study D. Beckmann and H. E. Richter’s Giessen Test (GT) as well as Z. Gaś’s Family Profile (PR) were used. The study results show: Young people from families with alcoholic disease differ significantly from their coevals as far as the social resonance, social abilities and the basic mood are concerned; on the other hand they do not show any differences with respect to dominance, openness and control. Alcoholic families are characterized by a lesser compactness, adaptiveness and understanding; and by greater developmental difficulties, de-organization and easiness of assuming family roles than families functioning correctly.
