Abstract

After a short introduction devoted to the methods of the literary analysis of the Bible the author passes to a discussion of the earlier suggestions concerning the structure of the Book of Job. In the final part of the article, on the basis of the “introductory formulas” distinguished earlier he presents his own suggestion of a seven-part structure of the whole work. A harmonious composition of particular thematic blocks is gradually disturbed. This seems to prove the editor’s design: the order that rules the just Job’s life is ruined; however, at the end it is finally restored.
