Abstrakt
The Catholic Church is a community which consists not only of a spiritual dimension, but also a human factor, due to great importance of the later. This human factor includes worldly conditioning which exists in a specific local environment. Therefore the bishops of Przemyśl: Józef Pelczar and Ignacy Tokarczuk, in their teaching and activities, drew particular attention to well-balanced relations between religious and earthly matters within church communities. Both of them attached a great significance to create inner, strong relations uniting the faithful who represented different professions and social classes. They were convicted that the Church Hierarchy should genuinely be interested in earthly problems of laics in order to show them sagacious Solutions to unfair social relationships. Catholic - social organizations, which integrated local church communities, had a particularly important task to do. Namely, their task was to arouse an interest in parish matters, teach activeness and responsibility for the common good of the Church and the State. They also taught to defend the presence of religious and patriotic values in public life.
