Fenomen Sathya Sai Baby. Próba analizy religioznawczo-psychologicznej

Abstract

Article contains a critical analysis of religious occurrences of Sathya Sai Baba (Sathyanarayana Ratnakra Raju, bom in 1926), from religiological and psychological point of view, based on literature sources. From religiological aspects the article intends to give an answer to a question on religious-metaphysical principles, that determine the fundamental teaching of Sathya Sai Baba, but from psychological angle it endeavors on the base of religious analysis concerning the reliability of person, methods of activity and motives of membership. On the basis of conducted researches the authors reached the following findings: the principle elements of doctrinal teaching of Sathya Sai Baba (idea of Absolute, concept of universe, man and religion) stays under strong influence of Hindu Upanishad with some clearly marked elements of Hindu bhakti, however opposes the partition of Hindu society into castes. The system introduced by Sathya Sai Baba is characterizes also with universal aspirations that involves some elements of other religions. From psychological point of view Sathya Sai Baba appears as a hardly reliable person, acting basically on sophisticated methods, founded on contestant attitudes accompanied with demands on alternative coherent viewpoint.
