Abstrakt
The article is written for all those persons, who without extensive psychological training must deal with troubled people in the course of their work Many people today turn so often to the clergy, teachers, general physicians with “problems” – crises, troubles, doubts, difficulties, frustrations. The Autor, after presenting an account of the developments in contemporary psychology related to problem of the helping in different froms (counseling, psychotherapy, coping, healing), focuses on the Gerard Egan’s helping model. Egan is profesor of psychology and Organizational Studies at Loyola University of Chicago, and also program coordinator in the Center for Organization Development. He has written over dozen books, including “The skilled Helper” and “Interpersonal living”. According Gerard Egan helping framework has three major stages: 1. Present scenario: the problem – what is and why? – identifying and claryfying problem sytuations. 2. Preferred scenario: Helping clients search and construct the futute – goal setting and shape agenda with understand the cosequences of choices. 3. Linking preferred scenario to action: helping clients choose best-fit strategies and put them to work The Autor believes that the proposed Egan’s model of helping may prove useful for therapeutic purposes in psychological and also pastoral counseling.
