Zagadkowe „chciał ich minąć” (Mk 6,46)

Abstract

This characteristic phrase we find only in the Gospel according to Mark, in the pericope „Jesus walks on the water” It is difficult to intrerprete these words. We can compare this phrase of Mark with the following Old Testament texts: Ex 33,19.22; 34,5f and 1 Kings 19,11: Moses and Elijah saw the „Glory of God” (kebôd Jhwh). In this comparison Jesus walking on the water appears as „the Glory of God” – a transcendent Person although hidden „in the condition of a slave” (Phil 2,7). In this moment his disciples are not yet ready to understand the mystery of the Glory of Jesus godness. It is possible that in this text Mark presents the characteristic for him messianic secret.
