Abstrakt

The aim of this article is to show, what the meaning has the word Zion, in the book of the prophet Zephaniah, who was leading his prophetic function before the Babylonian Exile. In the first part, the author gives the translation of the Hebrew text and the textual critic of the pericope Zp 3: 14-20. In the second part, the author presents the exegetical analysis of the text. The third part is the presentation of the theological conclusions. The prophet used the word Zion, not only in the geographical meaning, but in the juxtaposition „daughter of Zion”, he expressed the special, emotional relation of Yahweh to the people of Jerusalem, as well. One day, Yahweh who is living on Zion and who is loving his people, will gather them, there again. For the people, it should be the reason to have the great joy and happiness.
