Abstrakt
Further context of John Paul VI’s encyclical Sollicitudo rei socialis consists of documents from the Second Vatican Council, especially of the “Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modem World”, while statements of his predecessors: John XXIII and Paul VI make up a more specific context. As far as Paul VI’s encyclicals are concemed, his only social encyclical Populorum progresie, released in 1967, is worth reading. John Paul II refers to this encyclical and strongly emphasizes its significance in Sollicitudo rei socialis, which is our subject of interest. The main subject of the mentioned papal documents is human, his dignity, role and significance in the contemporary world.
