„Obrończyni wiary”. Próba interpretacji tytułu

Abstract

The article is an attempt to interpret Title: „Defender of the Faith”, which the Archbishop Jozef Michalik - Metropolitan of Przemyśl gave to Our Lady, venerated for nearly 400 years in the image, which is located in the church of Franciscans in Krosno. First, in the light of the church tradition was explained the importance of the title and identified its source. Then the biblical sources were approximate the title, appearing in a special way Mary as a model of faith, as the spiritual Mother of reinforcing the faith of their children and as the Woman, leading the successful battle with the enemy of faith in God - satan. The third part of the article are pointed out, in turn, some event in the tradition and history of the Church, where Mary was a rescue and defender of the Christian faith. First, it was noted that the correct Mariology is the guarantor of correct theology, especially Christology. In turn, these events have been noted, in which Mary was a defender of the faith and the Christian and Catholic countries from attacks of enemies such as the Avars, Muslims, Protestants, Communists. The article ends with an indication of the role that Mary meets in defending the faith of Christians today against various attacks.
