Luther und die Juden. Stolpersteine auf dem Weg zur Fünfhundertjahrfeier der Reformation 2017

Abstract

Od czasu inauguracji w 2008 roku tak zwanej „Dekady Lutra” jednemu tematowi poświecono najwięcej miejsca w toczących się dyskusjach: antysemityzm Marcina Lutra, w szczególności jego traktat „O Żydach i ich kłamstwach”, napisany w 1543 r. Po zakończeniu w 1945 roku nazistowskiego reżimu niemieccy protestanci musieli pogodzić się z faktem, że narodowi socjaliści wykorzystali Lutra jako kluczowego świadka wspierającego swoją politykę prześladowań i eksterminacji. Przez kilka dziesięcioleci kwestia ta nie została skonfrontowana w sposób jednoznaczny. Dopiero w listopadzie 2015 r. Synod Kościoła Ewangelickiego w Niemczech (EKD) jednoznacznie zdystansował się od antysemickich diatrybów Lutra.Since the inauguration of the so-called «Luther Decade» in 2008, one topic has been discussed more than any other: Martin Luther’s antisemitism, in particular his tract on «The Jews and their Lies», written in 1543. Since 1945, since the end of the Nazi regime, German Protestants have had to come to terms with the fact that National Socialists had used Luther as a key witness in support of their policy of persecution and extermination. For several decades, the question was not confronted squarely. It was not until November 2015 that the Synod of the Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland (EKD) unequivocally distanced itself from Luther’s antisemitic diatribes.
