Abstrakt
Before taking diaconate vows Piotr Dańkowski made a decision: “I will give /God/ everything I'll be able to” These words express an authentic desire to sacrifice himself entirely for Christ. The word “everything” shows that he did not hesitate to devote even his own life. The circumstances of the martyr's death of Piotr Dańkowski justify its recognition in the categories of sacrifice. Here, the fact that he died on Good Friday – the day which in a special way recalls and recreates the Cross Sacrifice of Jesus Christ – it is not insignificant. On Palm Sunday, at the beginning of the Holy Week of Christ's Passion, Piotr Dańkowski held the Way of the Cross, which preceded his martyr's death. These circumstances likened his death to the death of the Saviour, which makes it even more sacrificial.
