Abstract

Pope Alexander VI is a controversial persona in the history of the Roman Catholic Church. An effective ruler, efficient politician, and at the same time a pope whose moral compass is evaluated negatively. Hence the historians’ assessments are not unequivocal. The political decisions of Alexander VI are discussed within the political and socio-economic context of the epoch.
