Abstract

The idea of the Kingdom of God was a leading theme in Jesus’ mission. With His coming in time (Incarnation) He initiated the Divine Kingdom on earth. By teaching He clarified too worldly understanding of what the prophets from the Old Testament had foretold; He showed its characteristic traits, especially its spiritual character, and a necessity for everybody's commitment to its gain. With His salvific death He opened a way for God to reign in each man’s soul. Establishing the Church He ordained to continue the work on propagating this Kingdom on earth. The second coming of Jesus will end His Son’s mission of handing the whole kingdom to the Heavenly Father.
