Abstrakt

The Second Plenary Polish Synod was inaugurated by Pope John Paul II during his fourth pilgrimage to Poland in 1991. The formation of lay Catholics for apostolic work is the goal of the Synod. The changes which have taken place in Poland are the grace of God and need to be implemented to their fullness. This Plenary Synod is based on the Cracow Synod of 1972—1979. A two-year Study of the Lay Apostolate was organized in the Archdiocese of Cracow during the Plenary Synod. The persons involved in the Synod have a recollection day each month. The Archdiocese prepares monthly materials for the Synodal Committees to work on. In this diocese committees number about 300. The Synod is a great challenge for the Church in Poland. As John Paul II said, „It is a great and providential work”.
