Opis
The article consists of two principal parts; The first part is a kind of introduction, in which the author wants to explain the origin of the title "Father – Fathers”, which was in the pre-Athanasian period. He indicates the use of this title in the Egyptian, Assyrian and Babylonian Wisdom books, both in Hellenistic and in Biblical literature, both in the Old and in the New Testaments, which could have hat an influence on the origin of the Christian title "Fathers". In the second part the author every loca of where Athanasius uses the name "Fathers” and indicates how it was interpreted by the Patriarch of Alexandria: 1) Ancestors – distinguished by some sing of authority or holiness or other important signs, 2). Bishops who decided on matters of faith, especially those who participated in the Council of Nicea or other Councils, 3). Personalities that were contemporary who distinguished themselves for their holiness and their authority (Hosius, St. Antonius, St. Basil) – honorary titles. 4). Finally the author indicates at the end of the article that for the first time the patristic argument is used clearly in writings of Great Patriarchs of Alexandria.
