Hryniewicz, Wacław (Akademia Teologii Katolickiej w Warszawie, 1995)
The book published by Wacław Hryniewicz OMI, Hope of Salvation for All: From an Eschatology of Fear to an Eschatology of Hope (Warsaw, Verbinum 1989,178 pp.) has aroused an animated discussion among theologians in Poland. In 1991 and 1992 it became the subject for debate during annual meetings of Polish dogmatic theologians. The author of the paper takes a stand on some objections raised during the debate and reflects on some further issues, such as: 1. the ultimate finality of freedom; 2. its paradoxical nature; 3. the relationship between freedom and a real possibility of perdition; 4. the state of self-isolation and God's persuading love; 3. Jesus Christ – the unwearied Shepherd of the lost creature; 6. a fundamental asymmetry between sin and grace.
