Faithfulness in fulfilling of the mission of priests is closely connected to the Church’s identity. The article presents selected aspects of this identity, i.e. historical, liturgical and spiritual. The presence of the Byzantine rites with their own spiritual orientation became the fruit of the historical mission of Cyril and Methodius in Slovakia. The article presents the core of this spirituality as the basis of integral priesthood fidelity. It also presents the condition of the Greek Catholic clergy in metropolis of Presov and the challenges it faces in the context of the challenges of a secularizing society.
