It is in it that a person comes to this world, establishes his first relations, learns respect and love. It is also in the family circle that s/he learns sensitivity to other people’s needs, which is specifically expressed in his/her involvement in a voluntary organization. The studies presented in the article prove that a family environment with a democratic atmosphere favors young people’s decisions about getting involved in voluntary work. Their parents’ model and their openness are a help in making responsible decisions about joining an organization, and interest in the work may be a perfect support in difficult of critical situations.Pozycja Wolontariat wobec potrzeb rodzinyBraun, Katarzyna (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2007)Contemporary families are struggling with many problems.
