The main aim of the article is to show the value of human life in the light of the teaching of the Catholic Church, and at the same time to point out some of the threats to which life is exposed in the modern world, which constitute a challenge for the Catholic Church. The deduction method and its specific methods, such as: the method of analysis of source texts, the method of interpretation and comparison, as well as the methods of synthesis and inference, were used to achieve the intended objective. The undeniable holiness and inviolability of the human being is presented on the basis of the documents of the Church’s teaching, among which the encyclical of Pope John Paul II “Evangelium vitae” occupies an important place. Among the risks, particular attention was paid to the problems of contraception, abortion and IVF, as well as demographic problems. The article also shows selected forms of pastoral activity of the Church in the face of urgent and complex current challenges. Among them, some pro-life initiatives deserve special attention as a response by members of the Church to the “culture of death” proposed by a world that rejects God and His law.
