The paper presents the findings of a cognitive survey carried out among 501 preadolescents in the town of Frosinone. Addressing the complex issue of bullying and cyberbullying, we would like to emphasise the primary role of virtual conditionings, enhanced through traditional modes, often in continuity with the electronic form. The research shows that twelve-year old youngsters reveal strong tendencies to get involved in bullying episodes. As regards asymmetric relationships, the findings highlight the key role of adults, such as teachers and parents, as principal interlocutors on the phenomenon of violence, both traditional and virtual. The survey enabled us to define the educational needs of preadolescents and propose some specific preventive initiatives.

L’Outdoor Education e le scuole dell’infanzia nel bosco per crescere a contatto con la natura
Formella, Zbigniew; Perillo, Giorgia (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2018)
The scope of the paper pertains to the area of pedagogy that promotes the concept of integrated education, at the same time giving high priority to the environmental conditions that enhance the child’s growth and, in particular, her/his autonomy, freedom, intellectual and active creativity as well as prosocial behaviour. The proposal to return to the roots that lie in human nature and in the surrounding environment, seems to us particularly interesting, both for children living in rural environments and those from big cities. Being able to develop a personal bond with nature becomes a child’s healthy and positive experience, exerting its influence on all dimensions of her/his overall development.

Family violence in its various forms is contrary to the violence that occurs in public environments; these forms of aggressive behavior occurring at home make it easier for perpetrators to hide their aggression and, at the same time, make it more difficult for the victims to draw attention to their condition. They are, moreover, particularly traumatic because they cause loss of confidence between family members. According to Holt there are five different forms of domestic or family violence that have emerged as social problems over the past 50 year of the last century: 1) child abuse, 2) intimate partner abuse also known as family or domestic violence, 3) elder abuse, 4) sibling abuse and 5) parent abuse, which has not yet achieved the status of “social problem”. In fact, early research in the field of family violence focused primarily on spousal violence and child abuse, but it neglected the phenomenon of violence of children against their parents. The main aim of this article is to explore adolescent violence towards parents as a “new and emerging” form of intrafamily violence, which is a subject of increasing interest of researchers and professionals.

Młodzi Polacy poszukują prawdziwych wartości wśród duchownych. Analiza badań w świetle logoterapii V.E. Frankla
Formella, Zbigniew; Ekert, M. Amata (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2011)
This article aims at describing the reality in which young Poles live and grow up, as well as the challenges they have to face, posed by modern times and the changes taking place in their country, Europe and the whole world. We also consider how to participate in the process of young people’s growing up. One opportunity is meetings organized by youth pastoral centers run by religious orders and institutes of consecrated life. The article presents the results of research carried out in 13 youth pastoral centers in the year 2007/2008. One variable, a search for meaning in life, is especially analyzed. In the difficult period of growing up, young people often ask themselves the very first existential questions, such as “Who am I?”, “What do I live for?”, “What is the sense of the things I do?”, “Where do I belong in the world?” It is necessary for adults to accompany young people throughout this complex process of growing up, offering them support and help. However, there arises the question of the extent to which one can interfere in the development of particular people and the shaping of their personality through content and values influencing their way of perceiving the world and themselves. The analysis of this research can serve as a starting point for reflection on things that need to be emphasized, elaborated or changed, so that the meetings with young people can be even more fruitful and the proposed suggestions point to better solutions.

Perceptions of Purpose/Meaning in Life in Relation to Transition and Access to Kenyan Universities. Empirical Research Among First Year Students
Muiruri, Kagwe Cosmas; Formella, Zbigniew (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2015)
We investigated the perception of meaning/purpose in life in relation to transition and access to Kenyan universities in a sample of 1173 first year students, in the three modes of access namely: Joint Admission Board students (JAB), Self-Sponsored Programs students (SSP) and the Private University students (PU). The Purpose-in-Life Test (PIL) and The Seeking of Noetic Goals Test (SONG) were used to measure Viktor Frankl’s concept of Will to Meaning and existential vacuum in which four interpretable dimensions of satisfaction with life were extracted with 2 factors loading on the PIL and two on the SONG with the Kenyan sample. The JABs attained a higher score than SSPs and PUs and inversely a lower score in SONG than the other two. This result supports assertion that SONG is a complementary scale to PIL contributing two factors that deal with purpose in life and two motivations for meaning in life. The two instruments proved their cross-cultural reliability and validity with the Kenyan sample.

The Concept of Creativity: Towards an Intergrative Vision of Creativity in the Psychoeducational Application
Anoumou, Coffi Roger; Formella, Zbigniew (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2016)
Although it is a positive word, always attracting and increasing attention, creativity is a concept that defies definition. As a psychological concept, creativity has resisted unequivocal definition or clear operationalization. Nevertheless, after viewing its etymological and semantic aspects, we focus on some attempts of definitions. As “man’s capacity to produce new ideas, insights, inventions or artistic objects, or the act to create something new, to find original solutions, and the willingness to change or transform the world. Creativity has generated numerous definitions with the problem of the lack of consensus among creativity researchers. This seems more complicated when we focus on creativity in cultural context (be the Western or the Eastern one). However, since differences are not deficits, but rather richness that must be complemented, our proposal is to integrate different cultural criteria and offer a unified vision of the concept, which we illustrate referring to Kharkurin’s Creativity. 4in1 model based on the criteria of Novelty, Utility, Aesthetics and Authenticity. This integrative vision is not yet the last possible attempt, so the call for deeper research and better model is still active.

Życie jako zadanie. Viktor Emil Frankl w setną rocznicę urodzin
Formella, Zbigniew (Wyższe Seminaria Duchowne Towarzystwa Salezjańskiego, 2006)
Viktor E. Frankl, (1905–1997), was Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry at the University of Vienna Medical School. For 25 years he was head of the Vienna Neurological Policlinic. His Logotherapy/Existential Analysis came to be known as the „Third Vienna School of Psychotherapy”. Frankl received the degrees of Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Vienna. During World War II he spent three years at Theresienstadt, Auschwitz, Kaufering III and Türkheim. He held professorships at Harvard, Stanford, Dallas, and Pittsburgh, and was Distinguished Professor of Logotherapy at the U.S. International University in San Diego, California. Frankl has given lectures at 209 universities on all 5 continents. His first article was published in 1924 in the International Journal of Psychoanalysis at the invitation of S. Freud. Frankl’s 32 books were translated into 31 languages. His book Man’s Search for Meaning has sold millions of copies and has been listed among „the ten most influential books in America”. Through four decades Dr. Frankl made innumerable lecture tours throughout the world. He received honorary degrees from 29 universities in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia. He held numerous awards, among them the Oskar Pfister Award of the American Psychiatric Association and an Honorary Membership of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and Medicus Magnus Medal and International Golden Star „Merit for Humanism” (Polish Academy of Medicine, 1997). His thoughts had an impact on the development of human psychology in Poland. Most known followers of his theory are K. Popielski of Lublin and M. Wolicki of Wrocław. Frankl is the originator of the school of psychotherapy known as logotherapy, or existential analysis. Harvard’s eminent psychologist, the late Gordon W. Allport, called logotherapy “the most significant psychological movement of our day”. Logotherapy offers a potent weapon against the general malaise that gives rise to depression, despair, and addiction: the existential vacuum. Drawing upon his many years of professional practice and the concentration-camp experiences that helped shape his views, Viktor Frankl outlines such invaluable therapeutic techniques as inversion of intention, dereflection, and the use of paradox and parable, in addition to traditional analysis and drug therapy. Logotherapy and Existential Analysis has been internationally recognized for decades as an empirically supported humanistic school of psychotherapy. Evidence for the growing significance of logotherapy includes institutes, societies and professorships in many countries of the world, as well as conferences and publications. The interconnected theory of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis has been internationally recognized for decades as an empirically supported humanistic school of psychotherapy.
