Der Bischof und die Nonne ‒ Münster und Breslau als Erinnerungsorte
Franzenburg, Geert (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2016)
The article presents a “virtual” letter encounter between two persons, who have particular backgrounds and purposes in common, although they are contrary personalities: the former Jewish girl and later Carmelitan nun Edith Stein, and the pastor and later bishop Otto Zänker. Both have relations with Breslau as the birth place (Stein) or Bishop place (Zänker) and with Münster, where both, separated only by a few years, lived and taught for several years. Both personalities stand for the common challenge of intercultural and ecumenical dialogue, and of German coping with the Nazi era, and, therefore, for the purpose to combine past experiences, current life and future challenges by remembrance sharing and mutual learning, particular for the young generation. Therefore, only one letter (of Edith Stein) is presented as invitation to formulate Zänker’s answer, and, thus, considering the complex situation in the 1930s and today between cultures and attitudes.

Reconciliation Needs Remembrance: the German-Polish Case
Franzenburg, Geert (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2020)
The paper emphasizes the relationship between reconciliation and remembrance by evaluating examples of German – Polish discourses during the 20th century concerning the intrapersonal, interpersonal, intracultural, intercultural, and transcultural aspects from an ecumenical oriented Lutheran point of view. Based on research about remembrance, reconciliation (and resilience), and on the partnership between Münster and Lublin, it suggests a curriculum of reconciliation oriented remembrance for common projects of ecumenical and transcultural dialogue by sharing experiences and by facilitating rituals, which make them sustainable.

Versöhnung durch Erinnerung und Dialog: religionspsychologische Notizen
Franzenburg, Geert (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2022)
The year 2021 was marked, among other things, by the commemoration of the invasion by the Wehrmacht of the Soviet Union in June 1941 and the subsequent war of extermination. This attack was closely linked to the resulting breach of the Moscow Treaties between Germany and Germany and Russia in 1939, which were actually propagated as nonaggression and friendship pacts but the double occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht and the Red Army as well as the occupation of the occupation of the Baltic states and the opportunity for a German campaign against the West, and culminated in the attack on the Soviet Union. Thus, this date is associated with several traumas in numerous European countries. The following remarks show, from the perspective of the psychology of religion, how these traumas can contribute to stages of reconciliation with oneself, with others, and with life through constructive remembering in dialogue.
