Czy grób naprawdę był pusty? Całun Turyński w teologii fundamentalnej
Kaucha, Krzysztof (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2012)
This article contains many information about scientific and theological research on the Shroud of Tourin which arouses interest of many people. Especially fundamental theology research, the discipline which so far was interested in it very rarely and today should make necessary revisions, allows to see it as the picture of Jesus Christ, the third sign – beside paschal christofanies and so called the empty (not really) tomb – of the credibility of Christ’s Resurrection (maybe for some people the most evident) and a special sign of the Divine Revelation, God’s economy and the credibility of Christianity. Fundamental theology allows also to treat it as the miracle.

    Eklezjologia fundamentalna. Zagadnienia metodologiczne
Kaucha, Krzysztof (Towarzystwo Naukowe KUL, 2009)
In this article one can find the methodological sketch of Fundamental Ecclesiology, in particular: the former lines of this discipline, main concepts, side' sciences, subject, goal and functions and, particularly, methods. This sketch is based on mostly Polish literature which is not ‘large’ but consists important solutions. These solutions ought to be unifed which was one of the aims of this article. The other one was to offer some new propositions, in particular: Fundamental Ecclesiology as Integral Ecclesiology, closer unification of the subjects of Fundamental Ecclesiology and Fundamental Christology and the proper methods of Fundamental Ecclesiology. Trying to use more proper methods some new inspirations found in John Paul II’s teaching could help. In His teaching there is a sketch of three new methods useful in Fundamental Ecclesiology: historical-revelational, contextual-revelational and extracontextual-revelational.

Is It True That There Is No Truth? The Veritative Argument for Christianity in Joseph Ratzinger’s Thought
Kaucha, Krzysztof (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2023)
The purpose of this article is to formulate a veritative argument (an argument from the truth) for Christianity on the basis of Joseph Ratzinger’s thought. He was certain that Christianity is true and in touch with the ultimate Truth. The source material is Ratzinger’s entire intellectual output. The analysis aimed first at understanding his concept of truth, and then at extracting the most important premises in his argumentation. The conclusion indicates the most original content in Ratzinger’s veritative argument which may be useful for fundamental theology.

    Jan Paweł II świadkiem Kościoła
Kaucha, Krzysztof (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2006)
In the times when the Church is often understood in only natural way, when Jesus Christ is dangerously separated from His Church and when John Paul II’s pontificate is sometimes interpreted ‘outside’ the ecclesiastical and ecclesiological context, it is necessary to remind that John Paul II has been the witness of the Church. In this article the most important elements of this testimony have been presented. They have been devided into two parts: John Paul II’s testimony to the mystery of the Church (its origins and nature) and to its mission in the world. Due to John Paul II, the faithful witness of the Church, one can better understand the truth about the Church and more clearly see its credibility.

Johna Macquarrie’go apologia chrześcijaństwa i jej krytyczna ocena
Kaucha, Krzysztof (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2007)
This article is about the apology of Christianity which has been constructed by Scottish philosopher and theologian John Macquarrie. In the first part of this paper one can find a reconstruction of its philosophical sphere (inspired by M. Heidegger’s existentialism) and after it - of its theological one (inspired by R. Bultmann’s theology). Than a critical evaluation of this apology is made, pointing out its merits, defects and mistakes. The main points of this evaluation were expanded on in the last part of this article as general conclusions taking part at meta-apology and fundamental theology levels. One of these conclusions talks about the project of such philosophy of religion which can be very helpful for fundamental theology on the way to reach her goal.

Joseph Ratzinger’s Argument for the Epistemological Seriousness of Faith
Kaucha, Krzysztof (Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski Jana Pawła II, 2021)
Christianity, and the Christian faith, seems to be losing when confronted with scientific reason and scientific certainty. Christianity needs new arguments for the epistemological seriousness of its faith. Those could be found in Joseph Ratzinger’s writings, providing new insights into fundamental theology. The subject of faith as an element that is crucial to him (and to Christianity) pervades all his works. This paper aims at proving that Ratzinger has worked out an original epistemological way of defending the Christian faith. It is an attempt to recreate his argument on the basis of his entire intellectual output. The present research leads to the conclusion that Ratzinger’s way of argumentation is quite unique. In classical fundamental theology, the Christian faith (comprehended mostly as an individual act of faith) is placed at its end point, while in Ratzinger’s fundamental theology, faith (understood mostly as a historical and communal act) is practically a point of departure. From the beginning of his reasoning Ratzinger (due to his meta-faith perspective) persuades that the Christian faith is epistemologically very serious. Faith may not only manifest its presence alongside other serious attitudes to reality, but also be capable of demonstrating its foundation, rationality, originality, uniqueness, and even absoluteness (definitiveness).

Joseph Ratzinger’s Idea of Ecumenical Dialogue in Truth: Inspirations, Questions, and Problems
Kaucha, Krzysztof (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2020)
Without doubt Joseph Ratzinger is one of the most important participants of ecumenical dialogue. His theology has a practical impact on that dialogue not only because of his position in the Catholic Church. He has devoted many of his works to ecumenism. This paper is a result of the studies of all his works available in Polish since 2018. During the research it became clear that Ratzinger has offered an original idea of ecumenical dialogue. In this article it is called ‘ecumenical dialogue in truth’ and is described in the first part. Ratzinger insists to recognize in truth the causes of divisions, to accept that divisions among Christians are somehow allowed by the Lord, to see the true and authentic fidelity to the Lord at the bottom of divisions, and to ‘be humble in adopting realistic intermediate goals’. He encourages us to recognize true Christianity in the authentic riches developed by various Traditions over the centuries. The second part of the article is dedicated to new inspirations, questions and some problems which followed these ideas in the field of fundamental theology. Ratzinger touches on the most important problems in fundamental theology, like authentic Christianity, Christian identity, the Church, and credibility. His theology demands reshaping fundamental theology: its main presuppositions, tasks, attitude, terminology and methods.

Joseph Ratzinger’s Very Critical Diagnosis and Apology of the Catholic Church
Kaucha, Krzysztof (Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski Jana Pawła II, 2023)
Many devoted and well-educated Catholics begin to doubt the need for the Church. Flooded by the plethora of publications about the Church’s dark pages and scandals in the past and today they feel pain and are ashamed. On the other hand, they realize that the Church can be neither a mistake nor a lie. Undoubtedly, Catholics and Catholic theology need today an honest and serious apology of the Catholic Church that will not conceal any of her true weaknesses. This paper seeks to prove that such an apology is offered by Joseph Ratzinger (1927–2022). It is an attempt to recreate it on the basis of his entire intellectual output. His diagnosis of the Catholic Church is bitterly critical, he indicates many ecclesial problems that seem to be carried over from one generation to the next. At the same time, he provides an original apology of the Catholic Church that can surely be helpful in accepting the bipolar truth about her: God’s real presence has been so many times mediated by the disappointing Church. This article’s final part attempts to critically evaluate the effectiveness of Ratzinger’s apology from the contemporary perspective of ardent Catholics.

    Kontekstualno-europejska eklezjologia fundamentalna
Kaucha, Krzysztof (Wydawnictwo Towarzystwa Naukowego Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego, 2002)
This article comprises the methodological bases of the Contextual-European Fundamental Ecclesiology which takes up the problem of credibility of the Church in the selected context, namely in the context of the European present time. The present work comes up with a general thesis that the way of perceiving and justifying the credibility of the Church in the present day in Europe depends on its history and culture. From Renaissance up to this day there has been tension between the Church and European culture which sometimes presents itself (in extreme situations) in the form of secularization on the side of European culture and the conservative attitude on the Christian side. The Contextual-European Fundamental Ecclesiology makes attempts to analyse scientificcally the problem of mutual relations between the European present day and motivating achievements of the Church and at the same time expects that the results of the examination will cause significant theoretical and practical advantages both for the contemporary culture of the Old Continent and for the Church as well.
