Attitudes Towards Marriage, Sexual Morality, and Parenthood of Individuals Associated with Shalom Centre in Mitunguu, Kenya: A Theological-Pastoral Perspective

Attitudes to marriage, sexual morality, and parenthood are currently undergoing substantial cultural transformation, noticeable also in mission countries. For this reason, the Catholic Church has in recent years treated pastoral care of married couples and families as an urgent concern. The article presents results of empirical research conducted among a selected group of Catholics in Kenya as well as conclusions and postulates for Catholic formation and pastoral care of families. It indicates a need for education that would help individuals overcome unethical conjugal and familial attitudes. It also emphasizes the value of positive attitudes to parenthood present in African culture and accentuates clear progress in rejecting a conviction that marriage without children is pointless. The text points out urgent need for formative and pastoral work to eradicate corporal punishment of children and indicates challenges related to the education of women.

Prayer makes people grow and it shows the supernatural dimension of the family community. The family is called to participate in liturgical, community and individual types of prayer. The most important forms of family prayer include: the Eucharist, sacramental celebrations, the Horarium, occasional blessings, contemplating and sharing the Word of God, Holy Rosary, Cult of the Most Sacred Heart of Lord Jesus, of God Mercy, of Holy Virgin Mary, pilgrimages and acts of folk devotion. The family is called to foster sacramental life and prayer practices of its members. This spiritual growth of the family takes places through bearing everyday testimony and the mutual prayer support on the part of the family members, as well as the educational initiatives for the children. Family prayer comes to fruition in the form of prayer apostolate, whose aims reach beyond the family. Religious associations and family religious movements play a significant role in the developing of family prayer and prayer apostolate.
Ujęcie duchowości małżeńskiej w adhortacjach Familiaris consortio i Amoris laetitia

Artykuł przedstawia ujęcie duchowości małżeńskiej w adhortacjach apostolskich Familiaris consortio i Amoris laetitia oraz prezentuje podobieństwa i różnice dotyczące tego zagadnienia w obydwu dokumentach. Posłużono się metodą analizy tekstów źródłowych z wykorzystaniem dostępnych opracowań, a także metodą porównawczą i dedukcyjną. W pierwszej części artykułu omówione zostały pojęcia duchowości chrześcijańskiej oraz duchowości małżeńskiej. Część druga stanowi analizę adhortacji Familiaris consortio pod kątem elementów duchowości małżeńskiej. W części trzeciej przeprowadzono analizę koncepcji duchowości małżeńskiej zawartej w adhortacji Amoris laetitia, opierając się przede wszystkim na treści rozdziału dziewiątego dokumentu. Część czwarta omawia podobieństwa i różnice w nauczaniu obydwu adhortacji. Familiaris consortio i Amoris laetitia przedstawiają podobną dynamikę duchowości małżeńskiej i dobrze się uzupełniają. Jan Paweł II bardziej szczegółowo przedstawia różne formy modlitewne, natomiast Franciszek w większym stopniu skupia się na konkretnych czynach miłości.
