In the context of a lively debate on the encyclic of Pope Francis Amoris laetitia, in this article I take up the four most important problems that marriages in the Old Testament grappled with: polygamy, or marrying multiple spouses, lack of offspring, infidelity, or betrayal, and divorce. It is only against this issues that the profound novum of Catholic teaching on marriage emerges. The proposal will be that problems afflicting couples of biblical time are not so different from the ones besetting contemporary couples.

This is my next paper about impurity in the Hebrew Bible. In the previous papers, I discussed the legislation about dietary laws (clean and unclean animals) and impurity of death in the Torah. In this paper I examine impurity of sex. In each of these cases I propose my own hypothesis about the criterion for these cultic exclusions. The thesis is that the laws of impurity in the Bible are related to the paradigm of creation in Genesis 1 and the ideas contained therein. If the worship of the Lord in the Tabernacle has to reproduce an exemplary, paradisiac situation of man’s encounter with God, each impurity constitutes a transgression of Eden’s ideal order. Therefore, it cannot be tolerated in the sphere of worship.
Repetition and not Parallelism as the Determinant of Poetry in the Hebrew Bible. A Case Study of Biblical Story of Creation (Gen 1)

The article points to new research on the subject of poetics in the Bible and argues against the thesis that the basic indicator of poetry and poetic texts in the Bible is parallelism. According to the author, repetition is such an indicator. An analysis of the biblical story of creation of the world was used as the case study (Gen 1).
The Phenomenon of Rewriting Scripture in Late Second Temple Judaism: Some Methodological Reflections on the So-Called “Rewritten Bible” Category

The term “Rewritten Bible” was introduced by Géza Vermes in 1961 to describe works from late Second Temple period that “retell” or “rewrite” Scriptures with characteristic changes. Since then, much has been written about this category of texts. Today some researchers are tired of discussing this concept, suggesting even a move away from the notion. Others, on the contrary, apply it to an increasing number of texts, including even works lying outside the specific context of late Second Temple Jewish literature. This article discusses the phenomenon of the “Rewritten Bible” (RewB) and takes up a polemic with certain approaches to the category, concerning terminology, scope, and character, as well as indication of the purposes of rewriting activity. The article shows that the category remains useful and important, within certain methodological clarifications.
