Ofiara czy uczta? Teologiczne idee obecne w najstarszych świadectwach celebracji Eucharystii

Liczne formy kultyczne Izraela stanowią widoczną prefigurację przyszłej, najwyższej formy kultu i jedynej Ofiary – Ofiary Krzyża, uprzedzonej w wydarzeniu Ostatniej Wieczerzy. Jednakże kontekst uczty paschalnej, w jakim dokonała się Eucharystyczna Ofiara, wskazuje również na temat uczty. Stąd w Kościele były i są żywe dyskusje na temat właściwego położenia akcentów na dwa różne aspekty Mszy św.: ofiarę i ucztę. W dyskusjach tych badacze często powołują się na praktykę wczesnochrześcijańską. Należałoby jednak dokładnie przyjrzeć się najstarszym świadectwom celebracji Eucharystii, aby poznać, jakie idee teologiczne pojawiają się w tych świadectwach.

The entire Christian worship centres around the Sacrament of the Eucharist, the miracle that Jesus Christ left us. Tracking the various forms of offering sacrifices to God gives us a broader insight into the sources of what the Saviour ordered to do for his memorial. This article examines the cult of Israel with its various forms of offering sacrifices in order to highlight the direction in which the understanding of offering gifts to God developed. This allows one to see the changes that led to the worship and the most perfect sacrifice, the Sacrifice of the New Covenant. The article considers various forms of offering sacrifices in the Old Testament, with the special distinction of the Passover as the immediate announcement of the Eucharist. The theology of places of offering sacrifices (material and spiritual), that is temple and synagogue, was also taken into account.

Eastern liturgy, full of symbolic and allegorical interpretations, is a mystery that wants to go beyond time and enter into eternity. Therefore, looking at the apparently simple rite of the Great Entrance, it is far from being merely a technical offering of material gifts that will later be consecrated, but a deep theological and symbolic rite. The discovery of this beauty requires reading the language of symbols, so this article is intended to bring closer the symbolic and mystical meaning of the Great Entrance, showing the theology of bringing the gifts in the Byzantine liturgy.
