Pozycja From Desecularization to Sacralization of the Political Language: Religion and Historiosophy in Vladimir Putin’s Preparations for WarSkładanowski, Marcin; Smuniewski, Cezary (Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski Jana Pawła II, 2022)This article aims to analyze religious and mystical elements contained in Putin’s public statements by referring to selected examples characteristic of contemporary Russian identity politics. In order to demonstrate the importance of religious and mystical threads in Putin’s speeches, we chose five specific cases. The analysis of these statements indicates that religious and mystical motifs in Putin’s language are an attempt at self-creation for the purpose of domestic policy. We claim that this self-creation is more of an effort to strengthen Putin’s public support than proof that he borrows patterns for shaping Russia’s political life from the Russian religious and political tradition. Putin’s rhetoric is not so much a desire for an axiological renewal of Russian politics but an attempt to search for the new legitimization of the power system he created in confrontation with the West.Pozycja Kościół jako dar pośród darów Trójjedynego BogaSmuniewski, Cezary (Wydział Teologiczny Sekcja w Tarnowie Uniwersytetu Papieskiego Jana Pawła II w Krakowie, 2011)Pozycja La missione del sacerdote nel pensiero del beato don Jerzy Popiełuszko. – un martire contemporaneo della PoloniaSmuniewski, Cezary (The Pontifical University of John Paul II in Cracow, 2013)The study entitled: La missione del sacerdote nel pensiero del beato don Jerzy Popiełuszko – un martire contemporaneo della Polonia (“The Mission of the Priest in the thought of Bl. Jerzy Popiełuszko, a modern priest-martyr from Poland”) explores the theology of priesthood in the light of the thought and example of Bl. Father Jerzy Popiełuszko. The essay covers the following issues: 1) Fr Jerzy Popiełuszko in the context of the times he lived in; 2) The mission of the priest is to be close to God and to people; 3) The mission of the priest is to proclaim the Good News; 4) The mission of the priest is to minister the Sacraments; 5) The mission of the priest is to nurture hope; 6) The mission of the priest is to die for the Faith. The Author concludes that the phenomenon of Fr Jerzy Popiełuszko, which came into its full force after his martyr’s death, allows us to see him as a clear model for modern priests. The blessed martyr from Warsaw reminds us that sanctity can be attained and lived in all historical contexts. Fr Jerzy also comes across as an exemplar of a very engaged shepherd of souls who walked the path to holiness whilst also working closely with many lay people who showed a special readiness to work with him and solicitude for the good of the Church in a world at war against God, the Church and its priests.Pozycja The vein of gold. In search of a methodological renewal of dogmatics based on the reading of Lech Wołowski’s book entitled “The problematics of paradox in the thought of Henri de Lubac and Hans Urs von Balthasar”Smuniewski, Cezary (Uniwersytet Papieski Jana Pawła II w Krakowie, 2024)This study is presented in the form of a research-review article and consists of reflections informed by a reading of Lech Wołowski’s monograph “The Problematics of Paradox in the Thought of Henri de Lubac and Hans Urs von Balthasar”, while simultaneously drawing from other works by the same researcher. The aim of this article is to present the paradox method as a means to deepen theological research. This method is portrayed as a proposition that can be applied in theological research, much like in other scientific domains. This approach may contribute to addressing the contemporary crisis in dogmatics and serve in formulating responses to current “profound” questions posed by individuals and society.Pozycja Theologically Inspired and Supported Patriotism as a Component of Poland’s National Security. Concept of Research and its Social ApplicationSmuniewski, Cezary; Urych, Ilona; Boguszewski, Mariusz (The Pontifical University of John Paul II in Cracow, 2024)The article presents a concept of research and its social application concerning the creation and modelling of theologically inspired and supported patriotic attitudes in the Polish historical and security-related context. It concerns patriotism which, primarily, refers to Poland’s national heritage, theology, Catholic social science and national responsibility; secondly, it is directed at a sovereign economic development locally and on the international arena; thirdly, it shapes pro-societal and pro-defence attitudes; fourthly, it takes into account contemporary challenges linked with the environment, demography, migrations and “temporal challenges”. The text is classified among the papers on conceptualization of research projects in the area of security studies, social policies and political science, account being taken of the contexts and problem references to theology, history and cultural anthropology.Pozycja Wspólnota życia i miłości. Wybrane zagadnienia z teologii komunii małżeństwa i rodzinySmuniewski, Cezary (Wydział Teologiczny Sekcja w Tarnowie Uniwersytetu Papieskiego Jana Pawła II w Krakowie, 2014)Małżeństwo i rodzina widziane jako „wspólnota życia i miłości” zachęcają w świetle współcześnie rozwijanej teologii komunii do wielu refleksji, badań i opracowań. Niniejsze studium podejmuje niektóre zagadnienia spośród wielu, które domagają się wnikliwych przemyśleń i analiz. Przybliżone zatem zostaną kwestie umiejscowienia teologii komunii małżeństwa i rodziny w odniesieniach szczególnie do tajemnicy Trójcy Świętej i Kościoła. Te zagadnienia to: wychowanie w dziedzinie emocji, cielesność człowieka i „narcyzm partnerów”.
