Pozycja Biografia egipskiego dostojnika z okresu Starego Państwa na przykładzie inskrypcji z grobowca Her-chufaTaterka, Filip (Wydawnictwo KUL, 2013)The article discusses the biography of Her-khuf, who lived during the 4th dynasty, as a model example of ancient Egyptian biographical inscription of the Old Kingdom period. The first part of the text describes the structure of Egyptian biography, presenting its typical elements as well as their functions. The next part describes the most important episodes of Her-khuf ’s official career as presented in his biography, especially his four expeditions to the Nubian land of Iam organised under Mer-en-Ra Nemty-em-saf and Nefer-ka-Ra Pepy II. Her-khuf ’s biography contains also one unique element, which is a letter from young Pepy II concerning a Pygmy who was brought by the official to Egypt while returning from his fourth expedition to Iam. The text of the article is followed by first complete Polish translation of the ancient Egyptian text with a historical commentary.Pozycja Spiski Haremowe w Starożytnym EgipcieTaterka, Filip (Wydawnictwo KUL, 2014)The article discusses the harem conspiracies that took place at the ancient Egyptian court. The analysis of the now available textual as well as the iconographical material permits us to identify five harem conspiracies, which are the following: three under the 6th Dynasty (one in the reign of Teti and two others in the reign of Pepy I), one in the reign of Amenemhat I of the 12th Dynasty, and the best known harem conspiracy in the reign of Ramesses III of the 20th Dynasty. The author argues that the harem conspiracies were created usually at the very beginning of the rule of a given Dynasty, while its position on the throne was not yet firmly established. Each conspiracy has been, however, made by the members of the closed circle of persons with a direct and unlimited access to the king and their purpose was to replace the successor chosen by the king with another royal son. But the harem conspiracies were never an expression of the common rebellion against the ruling king. The article is followed by the first complete Polish translation of the documents related to the harem conspiracy in the reign of Ramesses III.Pozycja Tak zwana Stela Izraela króla Merenptaha z XIX dynastiiTaterka, Filip (Wydawnictwo KUL, 2016)The article discusses the stela of king Merenptah of the 19th dynasty (ca. 1213-1203 BC) which describes the victory of the ruler in the war against the Libyans in the context of the whole military activity of the pharaoh. A particular attention is given to the people of Israel, mentioned in the text, noting the existence of another ancient Egyptian source, possibly much older than Merenptah’s stela, in which the same tribe occurs. The article is followed by the first complete Polish translation of the Israel Stela’s inscription.
